Geeky Gift Basket Idea -Date Night for 2

 In General Geekiness

Need a gift idea for an upcoming anniversary or Valentine’s Day? How about a geeky date night gift basket?

Personally I enjoy both giving and receiving  homemade gift baskets. It’s a fun challenge picking out all the items to put into one. It’s also a surprising enjoyment to open one and discover all the hand-selected items inside.

Below you’ll find a number of suggestions that will make great date night options for you and your significant other. Make your basket themed (aka Harry Potter movie night) or go wild and pick items from all your favorite fandoms and geeky hobbies.

Board Games

Finding good 2 player board games can be tricky. The below recommendations are games made solely for 2 players. I tried to keep their price range on the lower side since we’re building a gift basket, but you could always make the board game the focal piece and go a little higher on price.

If you’re looking for more great options, check out my 2 player board game recommendation post.

Video Games

Local co-op games seem to be becoming a rare breed among new video game titles. That said, there are many good classic options out there and a few good gems among newer games too. Recommendations in addition to the titles below include: Minecraft, Overcooked, Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime, Divinity: Original Sin, Lego Dimensions, and of course just about anything N64 if you want to kick it old school (SMB or Mario Kart 64 anyone?!)

Recipe Books

People often think of cooking as chore (me included). But if you set aside time to make it an experience, it can actually be a really enjoyable date time.

Don’t forget that I have a number of fictional food recipes right here on site too! Start with an appetizer from Dragonriders, enjoy a main course from Game of Thrones, and delight in dessert from Harry Potter.

Event Tickets

This category is going to depend upon where you live and will take a little research on your part. Here are some suggestions:

  • Planetarium
  • Museum or aquarium
  • Upcoming convention
  • Is the Harry Potter or Legend of Zelda symphony score playing near you soon?
  • Midnight showing movie tickets
  • Geek themed 5k fun runs or trivia night
  • Renaissance festival
  • Escape room

Shows & Movies

Nothing like cuddling up to marathon your favorite movie series or catching up on the latest season of your must-watch show. And don’t forget your movie snacks either!

Throw Blankets

Weren’t we just talking about cuddling up? Might as well do it under a fuzzy Tardis or map of Middle Earth.

Build Kits

I don’t care how old you are. Playing with Lego bricks is both entertaining and relaxing. With the variety of kits out there now, you’re free to choose a theme and price range size that’ll fit your basket’s vision.

Also, nothing brings 2 people closer than having to work together to problem solve and work to achieve a common goal.

Puzzles

Sometimes you just want a relaxing activity that allows you to enjoy each other’s company. Puzzles are great for when the weather is icky out but you don’t want to stare at a screen all day. Set the mood with some good background music and brew up a cup of tea.

Puzzles not your thing? How about coloring? Take 2 coloring pages, fold them in half and then each of you blindly color half of both pages and then unfold them to see what you both created. 🙂

The Basket

Last, but not least, you’ll need a basket for your gift basket items, right?! I’d recommend going the storage cube or wastebasket route. Not only are they the perfect size for holding your items, but they’ll be functionally geeky afterwards too.

Did I miss something on this list that would make a great basket addition? Let me know!

What great ideas! I think the only things I would add would be either matching shirts or matching socks to fit the theme XD
