1Up Box Unboxing -July 2016: Squad

 In General Geekiness
Back in May I received my first 1Up Box monthly subscription box and conducted a review on it. I’m back again this month with another box waiting to be opened! Keep reading to see what the monthly theme for July, “Squad”, yielded in the box.
Based on my slight complaints from May, I would say that 1Up does a good job of listening to their subscribers and actively work to improve their box.
If you recall, I was concerned that the box wasn’t secure enough in May. While the box design hasn’t changed, this month’s box did come more secure with extra tape sealing it to ensure the contents wouldn’t come out.

1Up Box July 2016 Squad Contents

The contents of July’s Squad box included:
1. A Suicide Squad Funko Pop! figure. There were 4 possibilities for this item. I received The Joker which is pretty neat! My hubby was also excited by this guy. Our Pop! collection is now 3 figures strong thanks to 1Up Box ;-)2. A Marksman air freshener. Sniffing it from inside the plastic, I’m pretty sure it’s cherry scented….and it smells good! While I don’t normally do scented items, thanks to allergies, I don’t think this one will bother me.

3. A paranormal dog tag which I think is suppose to reflect 4 ghostbusters, given the release of the reboot movie this month.

4. The July collector pin for 1Up Box featuring their mascots -yes, they cute.

Squad 1Up Box Unboxing T-shirt & Poster

5. A super cute Groot & Rocket mini poster. This guy is going to be perfect for my office wall at work.

6. A t-shirt featuring a mash-up between Suicide Squad and Super Smash Bros. This shirt is another sign that the company listens to the subscribers. Before I had been a little bummed that their shirts moving forward were going to only feature their mascots in geeky situations. Looks like others were bummed too and the company has move back towards straight-up nerd shirts.

That tee is perfect!! And I’m happy to hear that they’re listening to their subscribers to make the boxes more secure. I’ve read about quite a few issues with that in the past.

Me too! I’d hate to see a company get poor reviews due to a lack of a bit of tape!

Who designed that shirt (or do you have to get the box to get it)?! I really, really love it!

I wish I could help you out with a designer name, but none were included in the box. It’s likely it was a special deal with the 1Up Box company.

I wouldn’t like the mascot on their t-shirt either. It’s cool that they listened to people and changed a few things.

My kid has loved this box for over a year. I ask him every month if he wants to cancel it and he says no. He loves the t-shirts and for the most part the goodies he gets. Every once in a while we will come across a dud. I can’t say I would enjoy this box as an adult. I think it is perfect tho for a budding tween geek like my son :).

      I think that’s totally a fair summation 🙂
